Studies on Some Horticuitural Characters Influencing Quality and Yield in the Pepper (Capsicum annuum L.)

Abstract
This experiment was undertaken to obtain the basic information for varietal characteristics of the pepper (Capsicum annuum L.). In most characters except fruit length, the introduced hot pepper varieties had wider range of distributions than local ones. And generally the former had a higher capsacin contents and the latter higher levels in the total red color. Distributions of testing pepper varieties in the fruit number and weight were clearly divided into three types: sweet pepper varieties are the types with high fruit weight, introduced hot pepper varieties are the types with numerous fruits and local ones are between both types. All testing pepper varieties were classified into 7 groups using the fruit shape index.
